During its evolution, the Center has maintained a continuing commitment to teaching new generations of architects and urban policy scholars the urban architectural design and political theories grounding modern-day urban sustainability. Such pedagogy has taken the form of third- and fourth-year design studios in the School of Architecture in the UK College of Design and inn undergraduate classes and advanced seminars in the Department of Political Science. These courses have schooled future architects and urban planners in the requirements, priorities, and methods of going beyond misplaced design work at the building and neighborhood level and surpassing “low-hanging fruit” palliatives.
